Writing Conclusions (Notes from Wednesday, March 27)

Writing Conclusions
Objective: To write the conclusions of our nonfiction books, thinking about how we can sum up our main ideas and show the importance of our topics.
Conclusion should have…
- Restate your claim
The most significant thing about King Henry VIII was not what he accomplished during his reign, but the women he chose as his wives.
- Summarize your main points
King Henry VIII married a Spanish princess; the daughter from a powerful, social climbing family; a woman who gave him his only son; a German princess he had never met before; a child who didn’t know what she was getting into; and a young woman who nursed him through his old age.
- Explain why your topic is important
Tie this to modern times and explain how men in power continue to have control over women and how people are starting to understand this and want to make a change.
